Stages like pre- adding the nzb to the queue, shutdown/standby/hibernate, close/start sabnzbd etc.
A few people have asked about the long file name issue, and it's the decision on how to handle such makes it unresolved, having pre-processing of the nzb name could allow us to just truncate or even strip out useless scene tags (or duplication of title).
The other use for pre-processing would allow us to make scripts do a more specific check for if we already have the downloaded file/video by being able to check other locations where the file name might be different (I know it won't download the same filename if the backup nzb exists, but that doesn't help if its a different release, etc).
Anyone else see uses for this?

Sorry... :/
I got nowhere using keywords like pre-processing, processing, and it's only occurred to me now to use "script" in my search and I have found the one listed by you a week ago.
For anyone else, #373.
Adding to it... you mention adding it as an option in switches, but what about adding it in like the post-processing, so we could have scripts per-category? (or all by using it as the default). Maybe that would add a bit too much clutter to the (category) interface though.
So imagine, you could check to see if a movie(picked up from category) is already in your movie library in X programme and such?
