Eick, I think I've broken something with my Mac and Sabnzbd doesn't work

Post by Tay »

Version: 0..4.12 (And previous versions)
OS: Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (And 10.6.1)
Install-type: OSx .app
Skin n/a
Firewall Software: Little Snitch, OS X firewall (tried with and without enabled)
Are you using IPV6? no
Is the issue reproducible? yes

In the last week my sabnzbd has stopped working properly, I have been using it and newzbin for ages and its worked a treat.  I suspect I've done something over the last week or so as it simply doesnt download properly anymore.

Typically I hop onto newzbin bookmark some files and within 15 mins its picked the list and is merrily downloading. I do the same now, and sabnzbd gets the bookmarks but little else. There seems to be a lot of chatter to/from giganews during this.

At the beginning of the week I selected a couple of publications in newzbin and noticed that the download was around 1KB/s only, I headed out of town for a few days on business and resumed my checking yesterday.

A couple of things to note: My destination (downloads, cache, logs etc) an external firewire HD, the machine is a Dual quad Mac Pro running 10.6.2, ample disk space on the primary drives and the external.

No matter I do I cant get it higher than 1KB/s I dont even think its transffering data the data, but perhaps just trying to establish a connection, this is purely guesswork on my side.

I have tried the following in no particular order:

Reinstalling
New .ini
Differant  usenet provider
Disabling all MAC Firewall  rules in native Mac and Little snitch firewalls.
Tried a differant ISP (I have Cable and ADSL)
Rebooting
Patched to 10.6.2

Other stuff I have tried:
Unison - nntp connections work fine on both ISP's
Going to try on my Mac Book this evening

Has anybody got any idea what the problem might be, as I stated I think this could be a Mac (eg: me) issue as opposed to a sabnzbd issue but I've ran out of things to check.?

thanks

Steve

Find the "cache" folder (usually in $HOME/.sabnzbd) and remove all files in it.

You don't need to feel a nub.
It's the software that caused the problem.
