Pushing growl notifications from Linux Ubuntu

So I have sabnzbd installed on my ubuntu 9.04 64bit machine.  It's happily working away for me and I have the web interface working as I want it.  Today has been the move from hellanzb and I am missing the ability to push growl notifications regarding queueing and completion to my mac.

I heard from a friend there is a script for this - can anyone help?  I understand this is built in to the OS X version, but I am looking to get it onto linux.

If there's a general way of doing growl in Linux, we might do it.
I suppose we could take a look at how Hella does it.

I just managed to successfully send a growl notification from the Ubuntu server to a mac, roughly following these steps:

Not too difficult.  Since I'm new to SAB I'm not sure I can make much use of having this available to me on command line - Upon completion or queueing of an nzb I would want it to send a notification with the Name of the nzb within.  I'm not sure how I would get hold of that variable.

Any hints?
