Sudden decrease in download speed

Post by 2stepsteve »

I have sabnzbd installed on my Windows Home Server. It has been working fine all evening downloading at 5MB/s

A few hours ago and without me changing any setting the download rate has decreased greatly I can now only get around 1MB/s.

Yet if I go to my workstation and test the connection to my usenet server by downloading with grabit I can get full speeds of 5MB/s.

Any ideas why this is happening? I have tried restarting sabnzdb but with no luck

Thanks

Never seen it on my WHS, but I don't watch the speed all the time :)
On the other hand, a WHS leads a life of its own.
Was a repair or a unpack going on?
Maybe it's balancing drives or something like that?

Hi shypike

You might be right there because out of the blue download speeds went back to full speed again without me doing anything.

I did a 8 hour run last night to see how things went and you can see that download performance has been sloping off.

Is there anything I can try to help performance?

What should I set the cache to? I have 2GB of ram

I have a single core celeron 440 2Ghz which I know is a bit of a bottleneck but was hoping for better performance.

Many thanks for any help
