SABnzbd scans my nzbs for an eternity

Post by Baske »

I'll get straight to the point. The title already explains my problem really, whenever I finished downloading something it starts scanning, and it doesn't do anything after that.

The only DL that worked was my first download, all the others are stuck in the scanning process. When I go to the directory where the DL files are supposed to be located (I put the incomplete and the complete in the same file) I do not see any of the downloaded files. To enhance this, I have made a screenshot to make it all a bit more clear:

Thanks in advance guys!

Is does not scan forever. The column "Loaded" indicates that the jobs are all finished.

Have you looked at the Connection page for warnings and errors?
Otherwise look in the logging (also a link on the Connection page).
Although a bit cryptic, it may help you find out what is wrong.

If you don't understand it yourself you may want to email the log to bugs@sabnzbd.org

I looked for warnings as you mentioned. Yes, there are warnings:
Connections

binaries.news.hetnet.nl:119: 0

Last warnings (clear)

2008-03-20 11:42:30,499 WARNING DOWNLOAD_DIR and COMPLETE_DIR should not be the same!
2008-03-20 11:42:30,874 WARNING IPV6 has priority on this system, potential Firefox issue

2008-03-20 11:42:30,874 WARNING IPV6 has priority on this system, potential Firefox issue
Does this mean I should best remove Firefox from my pc? (I mainly use IE, almost never Firefox)

Edit;
2008-03-20 11:42:30,499 WARNING DOWNLOAD_DIR and COMPLETE_DIR should not be the same!
I guess that's one of the main errors.

I get this with every download I make. Even those that have been downloaded 1200 times before.

you don't have to remove firefox... just turn of IPv6 if you don't use it.
http://en.opensuse.org/Disable_IPv6_for_Firefox here you can see how it's done in firefox (at this page it is done on opensuse but it is no different on XP or on any OS).
also, in your network connections (configuration screen>network connections), see the properties of the network connection you are using for newsgroups. Disable if it is there, IPv6.

The firefox and download/complete dir warnings can be ignored for this issue.
Firefox and IPV6 do not go together very well without tweaking Firefox, unrelated to SABnzbd as such.

The relevant ones are the "missing articles".
Are you past the retention time of your Usenet server?
Have you tried with another reader (like Grabit) ?

BTW there is known problem in SABnzbd that will skip a file completely if only its first article is missing.
That bug will be solved in the 0.3.4 release that will be published this week.

Already solved in 0.3.3!

arent it just files that are no longer on the newsserver? try to download the same nzb's with newsleecher and see if that program can download it. HetNet does only have around 7 days retention...

Edit: Searched on the newsgroups for those things you downloaded (from your screenshot) and all of them are older then 7 days

If HetNet does only have 7 days retention period, then what other Usenet server should I use? Can I just use Newsleecher?
I feel so stupid, sorry for all the questions guys...

PS: I have downloaded NewsLeecher, and activated it. I'm currently familiarizing myself a bit with the program.

Don't worry asking questions. People asking questions is the reason why the forum is here ;).

newsleecher is just a program that downloads files from newsgroups just like sabnzbd+. If you want more retention,  than your internet provider gives you, get a payserver. I personally use eweka but there are many more you can use for many different prices and maximum speeds and GB's.

I see that you are dutch so maybe you use FTD. If so, on the forum there is a big topic about payserver:
