Sometimes recovering a post is beyond the ability of par2. This is the case when the par2 file is poorly done (as when they do it against the original file, rather than the posted parts). Have some posts download as much as 90-99%, but not being able to complete it.
If sabnzbd could allow the user to request that the downloaded segments be assembled into an incomplete part, this would allow the user to download the available par files to recover the file. So I second the request for the option to assemble the downloaded segments into the post parts.
Decode incomplete files
Re: Decode incomplete files
Since release 0.3.3, SABnzbd will try to download all of the PAR2 files for hopeless cases.
Also an old bug has been solved, that prevented a file from being downloaded when only the first article was missing.
So, there's nothing more we can do.

Thanks for the nice job since you picked sab up. I am still having trouble dl a post. This version (0.3.4) got 96%, rather than the 90% of the previous ones. However only about about 50% made it to the dl folder (guess most parts are missing segments). This version got 3 of the 8 par files. I would guess that if it dl 96%, I have enough to complete the post (the pars make about 10% of the data segments).
Any chance of forcing sab to assemble what it already got into incomplete parts? If I really have enough, my par2 program is able to recover the post even when most of the the parts have invalid checksums. This wold be a last chance effort to get the post (this post is already 14 days old).
The problem is the way sab names the segments in the cache, it is very difficult to recover them into useful parts.
Thanks for keeping sabnzd alive.

Re: Decode incomplete files
As far as I know, it already does this. But I'll check again.ugokanain wrote: Any chance of forcing sab to assemble what it already got into incomplete parts?
Send the NZB and the logfile to bugs@sabnzbd.org
Re: Decode incomplete files
Just to let others know. The problem I was having was due to a malformed nzb file. Newzbin was putting parts with 80/40 segments, so there were never enough segments to finish the post.
Check the way your nzb is made if you have posts that aren't unable to finish.
Once again thanks shypike for the help

Re: Decode incomplete files
I did uncover an old bug (dating from 0.2.5).
When the NZB does not contain the first segment of a file, the complete file will be skipped.
It's a fairly rare event, I think.
This will be repaired in 0.4.0Beta1 and in 0.3.5 if that is needed.
