Can't use port 8080 all of a sudden?

Post by 1-UP »

Hi,
I got recommended by a friend to sign up to newshosting.com, so I did. He later hooked me up with an invite to newzbin.com and I used SABnzbd+ to download via the webserver/localhost interface in the browser. Things wen't terrific for 1-2 days, but all of a sudden it couldn't connect to 8080 anymore. I havn't used any other apps, installed anything new, or fucking around with the settings.

I don't know anything about servers/settings/ports/ssl or any of that so I just did what I was told by  my friend, step by step.

I get the login page if I change to http://localhost:8081/sabnzbd/ but it doesn't respond when I click login (I know it's the correct username/password).

As I said, I'm a total noob at this, and since it just stopped working like that, I have NO clue what do to.
Can I change so it connect to another port somehow? Apparently it's not just to type in another port in the url in the browser.

I've tried to re-install it 3 times now (removing all files with AppZapper). I tried NZB Drop, it worked, but it was very unstable and I couldnt unpack, remove rar's etc automaticly and every time it crashed it couldn't resume the download so I ended up with duplicate files and mostly none of the movies I was unable to unpack without any error.

Much thanks in advance.

The easiest thing to do is to find the file sabnzbd.ini.
(see http://sabnzbd.wikidot.com/configure for where it is).
Use Notepad to edit it, find the line containing "port = 8080" and change it.

Just try a couple of ports, above 8000.
The location of the sabnzbd.ini file is the same as on Linux.
The hidden folder ~/.sabnzbd

Thanks a lot.
That really helped. I noticed a misspelling in that file, which I would never have noticed otherwise. I can now login again. Appreciate it a lot.
