I've been using SABnzbd for a couple months now and have had issues ever since I started. It seems that it will download for a while and then the connection will time out and my internet will essentially just die. I can't access any webpages or do anything involving the internet until I restart my modem and router as well as the computer I'm using. It's also not localized to my computer either. My laptop as well as the other computer in the house are rendered useless until I restart the modem and router as well, though I don't have to actually restart those computers on which I'm not downloading. I don't know if this is an issue with SABnzbd or with my isp (Embarq DSL) or perhaps even my router/modem, but it's entirely frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
Version: 0.4.11
Windows Installer
Default skin
Windows Firewall
Don't know if it's needed, but I'm using an Astraweb subscription and using the secure server. Also, my router and modem both flash as if they are still connected to the internet, unlike if there is a network outage or something, when this happens.

Re: Internet essentially dies after SABnzbd use
I would be very suspicious about the router/modem.
nntp traffic is very simple tcp traffic that should not annoy any router.
Have you ever used bit-torrent? That's a good stress test for your modem.
Have you ever used another newsreader (say Grabit) configured for the
same server and with the same amount of connections?

I've used utorrent for years without problem (save for ever being able to properly forward my ports). I've never used another newsreader though. Is that something I should try and see if it comes up with the same result?
Re: Internet essentially dies after SABnzbd use
I still suspect your router/modem.
But using another downloader is a good way to check if SABnzbd might have anything to do with it.

Alright, I'll try that and see what happens. I'd like to believe it could be my router. It's fairly old (probably close to 4 or 5 years) so it could be the weak link.

It'll probably die just after posting this with my luck, but I started using grabit and it's been going strong for over 12 hours straight without a hitch. That's pretty much the longest I've gone without the internet freezing.

Well, it took a lot longer, but the internet did eventually stop working with grabit. I suppose it's now time to take a look at my router? Is there any way to determine if that's what is causing it before I spring for a new one?

You could connect your computer directly to your modem, bypassing your router. If the internet dies, then you know it's the computer or modem, if it doesn't die, then it's your router.
