Curious speed problems....

Post by 4r1-60ld »

Hello,

New SABnzbd user here - just switched from almost a decade of NZBGet.
The reason for me switching was that I was getting "a very specific" max download speed of 11.1 MB/s with NZBGet, and I could not figure out why (I have a 1GB line, and have gotten 85MB/s+ previously, about 3-4 months ago).

Spun up the SAB docker image and was very, very pleased when I saw 90ish MB/s. Job done. I thought.

Now SAB also appear to be throttling, at precisely 11.1 MB/s. This happened after about 2-3 days.
If it helps, I have a pfSense fw and the server with SAB (dedicated, but a bit aging..) running Ubuntu.
I have tried multiple servers, on multiple VPN reputable networks with pretty much all the usual suspects on the different usenet backbones. Same result. Even the built in speedtest gives the same speed.

Thoughts and ideas would be greatly appriciated.

11 MB/s is ... 100 Mbps, so Fast Ethernet. Probably an ethernet cable / switch problem.

My NUC has the same. I'm too lazy to find out the cause (a lot of cabling and two switches in between)

Very Interesting. Did not think of that. Funnily enough, mine is a NUC as well. :o
I'll do a little bit of digging on this... when I have some time...

Thank you very much!

So yeah. The NUC's NIC is set to 100mbits.
Rather than troubleshooting right now, i stuck a gb USB dongle NIC in and connected it. Result.
Thank you for pointing in this direction.
