I’ve been using SABnzbd on my Mac for years without issues but the latest update (v4.0.3) has presented a problem when setting the Watched Folder.
When I set the Watched Folder to ~/Downloads and try to save the setting, SABnzbd gives me this ambiguous message: “dirscan_dir directory: /Users/ro/Downloads error accessing”.
When I use the Browse button to set the Watched Folder and click the Downloads folder it doesn't expand to show sub-folders like when I click any other folder such as Documents.
SABnzbd is already using the default ~/Downloads/incomplete folder and ~/Downloads/complete folder with no problem.
SABnzbd will accept any other folder as a Watched Folder but not the Downloads folder.
Any ideas on what’s going on here?

Re: Watched Folder access error
If it can't show you the contents then it doesn't have permissions. Probably some Apple thing that it needs seperate access.
In any case, it's a bad idea because the scanner will also scan sub directories so it will continously scan your complete and incomplete directories. This is a never ending circle.
Just pick a different directory.

Re: Watched Folder access error
Thanks for replying.
I checked permissions on the Download folder as I suspected the issue might have something to do with permissions but didn’t find anything out of the ordinary, hence my reaching out to the Forum. It’s odd that the default Incomplete and Complete folders have no trouble residing in the Downloads folder.
Thanks for pointing out the issue with the Watched Folder being in the same folder as the Complete and Incomplete folders. I’ll change that.
