Unable to unpack RAR on QNAP NAS (SABNZBD 0.6.14)

Post by joey-78 »

Hello folks,
first of all, thanks for the admission In the forum,... unfortunately my English is not so good and so I use a translator if someone wonders why I write such strange sentences.
Now to the actual problem and before that my environment:
I use SABNZBD 0.6.14 on a QNAP-NAS TS-439 ProII+ FW4.2.6 which does not yet have Docker functionality. It was a challenge to even find a qpkg with which to install SABnzbd. A colleague helped me a long time ago to install the SABNZB on another NAS, but after a FW update it broke.

Now I know that the client can also automatically unpack RAR files after downloading, which it used to do in the past, just not with all downloads and I don't know what that depends on. It didn't work with my new installation either and so I'm wondering if you could help me to find out what the problem is and how I could fix it.
I've attached a log with a debug where I hope you can read more about it than I can. Everything looks normal to me. In the end, I have all the Rarfiles in the complete folder and always have to unpack them manually, which is quite annoying. But I don't know any different and have been doing it this way for a few years. With the new installation, however, I had hoped that it might work automatically again. Unfortunately not.
So if you need more information, please send us your questions.

Best regards
Joey

SABnzbd 0.6.14 was released in 2011, so 11 years ago.
We are now a SABnzbd 3.5.1, with 11 years of development of features and bugfixes.

So, what is the most recent version of SABnzbd you can put on your QNAP-NAS TS-439 Pro II+ ?

Hello Sanders,
Yes, I expected such a reaction, but I can't install current versions on my Nas. I don't even know what the last possible version of sabnzb is that I can still run. I was ever glad that I brought this current one up and running. I would have hoped that one or the other would be able to read something out of the log.. I don't want to use any new features, I just unpack them and that worked before. I just don't know where to look, if it works I'm more than satisfied... if necessary I'll continue to unpack it myself by hand, I've done it up to now.

Pity

Things I can think of:
- is there an unrar executable on your system? SABnzbd will tell at startup ... at least the current SAB; I don't know about SAB 0.6.14
- when you add a NZB to SAB, you can select at the dropdown what SAB should do. Make sure it's +Delete

Well, I haven't installed anything additional with the Qnap regarding RAR and I haven't found an app for it either.

And yes, if I add nzb file I can already specify these parameters when adding.

I always give standard with normal and delete.

just wanted to drop off again via ssh ipkg install unrar where he reported back to me ... Package unrar (5.0.12-1) installed in root is up to date.

So the unpacker is probably installed.

Restart SABnzbd. Then: in your sabnzbd.log, do you see a line

2022-03-06 15:55:31,840::INFO::[SABnzbd:470] unrar binary... found (/usr/bin/unrar)

I Found 2022-03-06 17:15:22,470::INFO::[SABnzbd:470] unrar binary... found (/opt/bin/unrar)

But now I've tried to unpack the rar files using Putty and the Unrar and it works quite normally. He accepts the command and asks for the password and as soon as I give him this, he unpacks the archive, .. so everything should work on the NAS was needed

@joey-78, you can use sherpa to install the most recent version of SABnzbd on your NAS. It works fine with your NAS hardware specs and QTS version.

Honestly, I've already played with the idea, but I'm a little afraid that if it doesn't work, my old version is no longer needed and I can't fix it alone. Besides, I don't understand where the problem seems to be for me. If I test everything on my own, it works on the nose. It must fail due to any config. I was hoping that someone here would know where to look.

I'm sorry, such an old version I can't try to support.. It's even from before I started working on SABnzbd, and that's already many years!
