Sorry! - Another post regarding Slow download

Post by Buffen »

Dear Experts
I have used this service for many years - happily!

BUT, I was downloading a 6-8 Gb file for "evaluation" this weekend, where my son was home on "Corona-vacation" - and it was a +1 hour download.
He had a look on my PC, while downloading, and asked: Why are you getting 1.8 MB download speed? You have a 1 GB fibre connection?

Hmmm - I don't know - so I checked the wrench tool in sabnzdb - and it says that I should have around 14.8 MB download speed!

I just wonder wath I'm doing wrong??

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

What did you mean with your Wrench statement? The Internet speed?

If so, do this:

In SABnzbd's upper right corner, click on the wrench symbol ("Status and interface options"), then click on first tab Status, and there click on "Test download" 1000MB.

What is the result: what speed do you get?

And: wireless or wired connection?

OK
Test download 1000 MB gives a speed of 1.8 MB/S on a wired connection.

I get this to:

Brugt chace 5.5 MB (8 artikler)
System Performance (Pystone) 87435 Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4010…
Download mappe hastighed 11.5 MB/s (C:\Users\.....\Downloads…)
Komplet mappe hastighed 9.1 MB/s (C:\Users\....\Downloads…)
Internet Bandwidth 78 MB/s (624 Mbps)

Is it my laptop that's the bottleneck?

Your laptop is good, you disks are slow (but not as slow as your download), your Internet is good.

Your newsserver speed is bad.

I checked https://www.tweaknews.eu/en and they do offer slow plans like "50 Mbps" (which is about 5 MB/s). You don't have such a slow plan, do you?

You might raise your number of connections from 8 to 30 to see if that helps.

If not, consider buying (a block) from another newsprovider, to see if that works full speed.

PS:

"Komplet mappe hastighed " That's Danish, right? "hastighed" looks like pseudo-Dutch "haastigheid" ... the state of being in a hurry. So I could understand it :)

And just to make sure, in Config General at the bottom, what have you filled for Maxium Line Speed?

OKAYe!
Was checking Settings - I did only use 8 connections, instead of 30!
When I changed to 30, my speed did rise to 6ish MB - thats better!
