I recently downloaded the Windows Standalone binary (SABnzbd-3.0.1-win32-bin.zip) directly from the sabnzbd site. I then sent it up to VirusTotal which subsequently exploded:
9/60 detections:

Avast Win32:MalwareX-gen [Trj]
AVG Win32:MalwareX-gen [Trj]
Jiangmin TrojanSpy.Python.g
K7AntiVirus Trojan ( 0056bdb91 )
K7GW Trojan ( 0056bdb91 )
McAfee Artemis!5642D5635C3E
NANO-Antivirus Trojan.Win32.Mlw.hrjnpm
VBA32 TrojanPSW.Python
I'm thinking (hoping) these are false positives but wanted to run it by the forum.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

The build process is fully open source, nothing in there.
These are just general detections unfortunately.. We include a certificate file, already since years. But that triggers many virus scanners.

As a side note, why use the 32bit version and not the 64bit one?
