Overloading PC

Post by MikeMen »

I run SAB on a PC which also has the storage for my video library. When SABnzb is processing a downloaded video it seems to take use all of the CPU resources of this machine. If I'm trying to watch a program on my media center PC, it freezes until the main PC has a moment to read the next segment and send it over the network.

Are there any setting I can use (windows or sabnzb) to limit the load that SABnzb places on the computer?

Hi,

I sometimes experience the same on my HTPC: SAB downloading and unpacking at the same time als watching via VLC is not a great idea: VLC will stutter.

On Windows, maybe you can lower the priority of SABnzbd like described here: https://winaero.com/blog/change-process ... indows-10/

The real CPU and Disk killers are unrar and par2repair. These are child-processes of SABnzbd. I'm hoping that child processes of a low-prio process also get a low prio ...

You can set the process-priority in Windows specifically for unrar and par2 inside SABnzbd, go to:
Config > Switches > External process priority.
