Stuck at 11 MB/s Download Speeds

Post by TheCMH15 »

Hi All, thanks in advance for the help!

I have a brand new 100% dedicated (Plex & Sab/Sonarr) Mac Mini, and Metronet (900mb download speeds) and only get 11 MB/s on all usenet downloads.

I am using Ninja @ 30 Connections (have tried a bunch of different connections, including 5 and 50), I've tried SSL and no SSL . I also get the same speeds on SuperNews. I have increased the Article Cache limit to 2G. I download directly to the Mac's hard drive (not an external). I have repaired the Queue, restarted and upgraded Sab. I do not use a VPN.

When I test the Download and Complete folder speeds I get around 800 MB/s.

Anyone have any ideas of what could help me? Thanks again

That's mega-bit.

SAB reports in mega-BYTE, and 11 MB/s = 11*8 = 88 Mbps.

So that matches: 98 Mbps and 88 Mbps are about the same.

So ... no problem with SAB.

If you buy 900 Mbps from your ISP, and you only get 98 Mbps ... call your ISP. Unless you're doing this via wifi ...then use wired ethernet.

You are a lifesaver, thank you. Yes, I have the gigabit service from MetroNet so sounds like I need to give them a call.

Thanks again

Well, I am an idiot. But posting just in case anyone else runs into this...

I was using an ethernet switch not graded for Gigabit speeds. Buying a new port immediately fixed the issue.

Thanks again for your help sander, it pointed me in the right direction.

Ah, yes ... 11 MB/s aka 98 Mbps should rasise orange flags ... 100 Mbps speed aka Fast Ethernet.

Great it works now.

Out of curiosity: what SAB speed do you get now?

Touched 99 MB/s without playing around with ports or connections. I'm also connected via the new ethernet hub and need to move it around to get the Mac directly connected to the router. But either way, I'm obviously very happy!
