Antergos Install Issues

Post by sabbyformneb »

Hey,

I don't know what is wrong.

I seem to have trouble getting SABnzbd to install and run on my system. Every system I install it onto there is nothing but issues.

I have now installed SABnzbd into my new KDE Antergos install through the AUR.

The issue is that the default icon for SABnzbd does nothing and if I run the command "sabnzbd" through the terminal it will then only run there. If i run sudo sabnzbd it seems to be a whole other instance, and if I do it another way it's another instance. We aren't even getting to the permission issues.

The biggest issue is it just does not seem to want to run at startup or showup in the system tray.

Does anyone know how to get it running in KDE Antergos. It really shouldn't be this freaking hard.

We do not make the package for that environment, you should complain with the creators of the package.
Maybe inspect the shortcut and see what command it's trying to run?
To get it to show up in the system tray, you will need extra packages like python-gtk2, but that depends on the system and should be taken care of by the package manager.

This is the command for the shortcut...

sh /opt/sabnzbd/addnzb.sh %u

Am I really the only person here that uses Arch with Sabnzbd. I would have expected other users to reply with answers.

Alright,

So I found a tutorial on installing it within Arch and it works. I now reboot and it's loaded and working.

The issue comes down to the tray icon again. I do notice if i run "sudo sabnzbd" in the terminal the tray icon appears. That would indicate the needed packages are here. The tutorial i followed does set Sabnzbd up as root though so it should be fine. Here is the tutorial I followed....

Thanks for letting us know! :)

You are not the only one, there's just none of the main developers of Sabnzbd that use it and can help you out unfortunately!
