Hello! so I've been using SABnzbd for a while now and I I keep having the same problem. My computer keeps crashing when i'm downloading nzb's, and it usually happens when I'm downloading a lot of them at once (i'm not sure if it always happens when verifying a file, or repairing...). the computer will crash sometimes 10-20 times in a row and then it's fine. Right now I've stopped it from crashing by pausing the download, and letting the SAB just run through verifying and repairing the already downloaded files. Is this common?
All the being said, it seems like my fix is to just pause downloading while a repair/verify is going on... is there a way to have SAB do this automatically? basically have the download queue pass while there are still active items in the History queue? Let me know if i can provide anything which might help. Thanks a bunch!!

Re: computer keeps crashing while downloading and repairing
just found the option "Pause Downloading During Post-Processing". so i've enabled that for now, but it would still be good to hear from anyone that might have another solution for this, one where i could keep downloading while doing the post-processing. Thanks for your time!
Re: computer keeps crashing while downloading and repairing
Sounds like a hardware problem, possibly memory problem or CPU overheating problem. That is not good.
So the real solution is to solve that.
Memory problem: use memtest86+ to verify your RAM
CPU Overheating: install a Windows program that monitors your CPU load & temperature

Re: computer keeps crashing while downloading and repairing
What kind of crash? It freezes so you have to restart?
Could it be overheating? Downloading and especially repairing takes lots of cpu power.
You could disable Multicore par2, this will slow down repair but also put less strain on the cpu.
However, first update to 1.1.1 since we did put some fixes/improvements in it for that.

Re: computer keeps crashing while downloading and repairing
Thanks for the replies! I after enabling the pause download during post-processing, i'm still having crashes. The last one I noticed at around 30% of the download, so it looks like it's happening during the download too.
As for the crash, it basically just restarts the machine. it sometimes it brings up a blue microsoft screen with a QR code on it, but I think it lists the stop code as unknown... I'll watch for this and make a note of it next time it happens.
about a month ago and did a good clean of the inside of my computer, blew out all the dust, and was hoping that would help. I'll try the par2 multicore disable, and also run the memtest and check the CPU temps tonight. Do I care much about the GPU temp? Thanks again!

Re: computer keeps crashing while downloading and repairing
so I went ahead and remoted into my system and installed the temperature monitor, and it looks like my mother board is getting too hot... I have an EVGA 132-YW-E178-FTW.... and the CPU is at 91 C (194 F). CPU 1 is at 24C, but I'm going to guess that's my problem... I'll try to look at this tonight and get back with you all, but that sounds like that's the problem.
Note, these temperatures are with SAB paused, so these are just idle temperatures. I'll probably have it start downloading something and watch the temps to make sure there's going up and that is the cause, but it sounds pretty likely.

Re: computer keeps crashing while downloading and repairing
Yep, 91 idle sounds bad!
Check the cooling and also the cooling paste between the cooler and the cpu. That tiny layer, too thick or thin, makes huge difference.

Re: computer keeps crashing while downloading and repairing
hmmm... I'm a bit confused. the motherboard CPU temp just stays at 91C for the motherboard CPU, and the main CPU says around 37C or so. below is the what I get from using CPUID HWMonitor (to see the temperatures and such)
EVGA 132-YW-E178-FTW
---Temperature 0 3 degC (37 degF) [0x3] (System)
---Temperature 1 91 degC (194 degF) [0x14B] (CPU)
---Temperature 2 25 degC (76 degF) [0x31] (CPU 1)
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700
---Temperature 0 33 degC (91 degF) (Core #0)
---Temperature 1 32 degC (89 degF) (Core #1)
---Temperature 2 27 degC (80 degF) (Core #2)
---Temperature 3 26 degC (78 degF) (Core #3)
when i start download or post processing the intel temperatures got up a little, but are still below 100F. the motherboard temperatures don't really seem to change at all. This computer is about 7 yeras old... should i change the thermal paste on the CPU? I'll try to do another clean out of the computer when i get home, and see if the motherboard temperatures go down any. Let me know if any of these temperatures look funny to anyone.
