Configuring SAB

Post by sabnovice »

I have been using SAB for a couple of years without any problems. I don't know a lot about it but it did what it was supposed to do. Then, I got a new computer and had to recreate the installation. I tried taking the .ini file from my old system and just copying it over to the new one but that didn't work. I can't even get it to recognize my userid and password. I have tinkered with the .ini and have reviewed the configuration info from the help file all to no avail. Can someone please let me know what I need to do?

Thanks,

Did you copy the sabnzbd.ini when sabnzbd was shutdown?

I have to start SABnzb manually - if I do not have a SABnzb tab open on my browser, I have to double-click on the desktop icon and then enter my username and password.

Prior to my going to my new computer, sab would auto-magically open a browser tab when I downloaded an nzb.

No, I wasn't smart enough for that. I did, though, get a "working" .ini from my son.

Only when I log-on using my son's ID and password. How do I change the ID and password to be me?

I am using Windows 7.

On a Windows system each user has his/her own profile.
The profile stores SABnzbd's data, so different for each user.
You'll need to copy the info or put it in a common location.
SABnzbd's main Config screen shows you where the data is stored.

Thanks, I found the config page and I found the .ini file and opened it in Notepad. Do I make changes to the .ini in Notepad or do I make the changes using Sabnzbd itself? If I should use SABnzbd itself how do I go about and accomplish this?

Thanks for all the help.

If SABnzbd is not running, it's safe to edit the ini file with Notepad.

But if you have sabnzbd running, it's just as easy to go in the Config (click Config button or hover over the buttons to see which one says Config).
Then on the General page of the Config, it will have Username and Password. There you can change the general username and password easily and click Save.
