error message timeout
I am really new to sabnzbd and I am getting this error message when trying to link to my xennews account:
[Errno 61] Failed to connect: (60, 'timed out') -1@news.xennews.com:119
I have a 3 month subscription with xennews and thought I had entered incorrect username and password details into sabnzbd server settings so have tried a number of times and still getting same error message
Sent an email to xennews to see if any problems there end but wondered if any help from people in forums.
I have a Mac with latest OS
Thanks for any help

Re: error message timeout
'timed out' does not have to do with username/password; it is something at the network level. So no need to mail the news provider Xennews.
Things to think of:
Check you have NO spaces filled oud behind the server name.
As a reference, can you add "news.eweka.nl" (port 119, no or fake username/password) as a newsserver, and see what you get when you connect?
If news.eweka.nl gives a 'timed out' too, you have a network problem: no network, or a firewall, or an ISP blocking access.

Re: error message timeout
Seem he has a space after the server address, the problem of setting strings not being trimmed we solved a while ago. Don't know if that commit ever made it into 1.0.x or if it will be for 1.1.x.

Re: error message timeout
Thanks Sander and Safire. Do you know how I might fix potential issue of space after server address if this turns out to be the problem.
Thanks for your help

Re: error message timeout
Already checked if any additional spaces in all areas including the Host section in server setting but nothing there
Re: error message timeout
I see that the forum software here is adding the space between the servername and port when auto-creating a link, sorry for assuming you did it wrong!
What happens when you open a command window and do a ping to that server?
Or a traceroute?

Re: error message timeout
@Lekkerbru:
In the Glitter-interface: in the upper right corner click on the "wrench" symbol. That should show "Status and interface options". What do "Public IPv4 address" and "Nameserver / DNS Lookup" say?

Re: error message timeout
is terminal software the equivalent to command window as not really done a ping before or traceroute
Re: error message timeout
Public IPv4 address: 77.bla.bla.108
Nameserver / DNS Lookup: OK

OK, looks good: you have network connection (I masked your IP address a bit).Lekkerbru wrote:Public IPv4 address: 77.bla.bla.108

What if you add news.eweka.nl as newsserver like I described above?
Re: error message timeout
Thanks for that Sander.
Tried what you suggested with news.eweka.nl in host section and used same xennews and this message popped up:
502 Authentication Failed

Re: error message timeout
