New guy needs help.

Post by GDLV2 »

I'm new to this way of downloading but I'm on the edge of going back to my old way, yes it was more time consuming but the files downloaded.

So far, I've downloaded almost 15Gb, and nothing has been 'completed'

Not enough repair blocks.
Unusable rar file
Check host retention period (despite being released two days ago)
Invalid par2 files

I'm using Newshosting.com as my provider (2687 day retention), sonarr to search and Sabnazbd to download (or rather try to).

Is there anything you guys can suggest, I'm reading as much as I can about each 'failure' and while each single one is annoying, I'm starting to wonder if sabnzdb works or I should move to another type of program to download.

Thanks

If you're downloading recent popular material, take note of DMCA takedown requests.
These are very frequent these days.
To verify your setup , first download something safe like an Ubuntu ISO.
Example: search for:
ubuntu-14.04.3-server-amd64
Make sure you pick a set with RAR and PAR2 files.

Will do Shypike.

Thanks for the suggestion.

EDIT: As a side note, how does one control what release is downloaded?
As far as I can tell, you just set the quality and it automatically goes off and gets the closest matching one.

Also, I've just had my first item complete.. but the complete directory is empty, the downloaded files are still in the incomplete area and Sabnzdb states that 500+ articles are missing. You will have to forgive the silly question.. if things are missing, how is it complete?

Downloaded fine with Grabit, fails every time with Sabnzdb.

Version: SABnzbd Version: 0.7.20
OS: Win7 Ent X64
Install-type: Windows Installer
Skin: Default
Firewall Software: Build in, disabled on all network profiles.
Are you using IPV6? No
Is the issue reproducible? Yes, every download I attempt.

1. What you download is determined by what you look for and select from an indexer.
There are many different ones.
It's outside SABnzbd's scope.

Complete means that everything that can be downloaded has been downloaded.
That doesn't mean it's usable. Often the post can be repaired by using the par2 files, sometimes not.

BTW: select the option Config->Switches->"Abort when job cannot be completed".
