Downloaded log and no such line in there i'm afraid. My friend who had logged into my xennews account to try on his sabnzbd was thinking it could have been DNS issues with the xnenews line linked to the host

done what you said and it's working. Tried both and ok Thanks so much for your help and patience with this. had no idea what was wrong with it

Put these as the host in the server section?

Still not working i'm afraid really appreciate all your support in trying to fix it

my xennews worked as a friend of mine tried my details using his sabnzdb, but he has a PC and no problems whereas something seems to be stopping my sabnzbd linking to my xennews

Also I have turned off software called little snitch which asks if want to allow sites etc. Checked firewall and nothing

xennews works fine and has been tested

Tried what you suggested with news.eweka.nl in host section and used same xennews and this message popped up:

502 Authentication Failed

Public IPv4 address: 77.bla.bla.108
Nameserver / DNS Lookup: OK

is terminal software the equivalent to command window as not really done a ping before or traceroute

still this:

[Errno 61] Failed to connect: (60, 'timed out') -1@news.xennews.com:119

Already checked if any additional spaces in all areas including the Host section in server setting but nothing there

I have EL Captain on Mac and version of sabnzbd is 1.02

Thanks Sander and Safire. Do you know how I might fix potential issue of space after server address if this turns out to be the problem.

I am really new to sabnzbd and I am getting this error message when trying to link to my xennews account: [Errno 61] Failed to connect: (60, 'timed out') -1@news.xennews.com:119 I have a 3 month subscription with xennews and thought I had entered incorrect username and password details into sabnzbd ...
