To close this - it has been fixed in 7.11 - I was lucky enough to have one of the rare Usenet servers as mentioned in the bug fix release.

Thanks Shypike, I've sent you the details. I understand about the difference between servers just being a bit unknown, but the point here is that: I did not change servers at all... I had all 4 working (3 as backup) and disabling 3 of them and making the holland 1 a primary rather than a backup work...

On the bar with the Sabnzbd logo in the center... if you go to the far right side of that bar, there's a circular down arrow by itself.
Hover over that, and click 'Top Menu'.
