An update... After reinstaling the source code SABnzbd 0.6.14 was working properly. It crashed at some point (unable to connect through a webbrowser). I haven't changed the skin. I am going to try a reinstall and see if that helps.

Yesterday SABnzbd started behaving very strangely... I am able to download using NZBs even though nothing shows up in the download queue (verified by watching the download directory).
